Course Details
A comprehensive exploration of the placement of chest drains for palliative purposes, including the anatomy and physiology and drain placement.
Who is This Course for?
All trained nurses caring for patients who may potentially require a chest drain.
What Will the Course Cover?
- Anatomy and physiology
- Insertion technique
- Routine checks and daily care
- Changing a drainage bottle
- Chest drain removal
Pre-Course Requirements
Some experience of caring for chest drains is beneficial but not essential.
How Will the Course be Taught?
Face-to-face delivery in a group, involving some group work or work in pairs, utilising our state-of-the-art simulation mannequin to demonstrate and practise clinical skills.
