Our admin roles could be as a Receptionist Volunteer or could involve supporting one of our teams from across the Hospice.
Supporting as an Admin Volunteer
Our teams across the Hospice rely on dedicated support from volunteers, from supporting our Fundraising Team to helping our Finance Department, every admin role enables our Hospice to function efficiently and saves on additional staffing costs.
Our Hospice Reception relies on the support of volunteers to be able to run each day with roles available Monday to Sunday, 9am – 7pm.
Our Furniture Hub also has a team of Reception and admin volunteers who support Monday to Saturday, 9am – 5pm.
Our reception roles ensure that members of the public not only get a warm welcome, but can make enquiries regarding our clinical services and retail offer. The reception team also support with a wide range of administrative tasks.
It’s a great volunteering role to meet new people whilst providing vital administrative support to our teams.

Our reception teams run on a rota, so volunteers either sign up to a particular weekly time slot, or as ad hoc to help cover holidays and absences.
What to expect in a reception role:
- Welcoming visitors
- Directing phone calls
- Supportive administrative tasks
- Taking payments for goods
- Arranging collections and deliveries (at the Furniture Hub)
All other Admin roles are bespoke dependent on the department you are supporting and may involve computer / telephone work. Most admin volunteers support once a week for 3-4 hours, but this is again dependant upon the department.
