Volunteer vacancies

Could you spare a few hours to support patient care or raise vital funds for your local hospice?

Whether you’re looking for a good way to use some spare time or to develop your skills, volunteering for Dr Kershaw’s can be extremely rewarding… and fun! In return for your time, we’ll offer you training and support, a reference (upon 6 months of regular volunteering) as well as invites to social events.

Apply to become a volunteer

If you are aged 16+ and interested in any of the roles below, please contact our Volunteer Team for further information at volunteerdept@drkh.org.uk or 0161 624 2727 or complete the application form below.

Some roles at the Hospice are subject to a standard or enhanced DBS check due to contact with vulnerable people. Declaring that you have a criminal record will not necessarily prevent you from volunteering with us, but please be prepared to discuss this in confidence with us when you apply.

Our volunteering roles

What to expect after you have applied to become a volunteer at Dr Kershaw’s Hospice

Once we receive your application we aim to contact you within 72 hours, this is usually by email (so keep an eye on your junk mail). We will confirm we have received your application form and arrange a convenient time to meet you. Our interview process is very informal and a chance to get to know you a little better, and for you to get to know us.

If we have a suitable vacancy we will then discuss this with you, and look to arrange a taster session with a member of staff from this department. This member of staff will also complete your induction and talk you through your new role. All volunteers are given a 4 week trial period. After this we will check in with you to make sure you are enjoying the role.

Volunteering makes me feel like I am making a difference to the community. I love the work I do and the people I work with. The Hospice is such a happy place to be a part of.
